Traditionally, Russian Caravan is made from a mixture of several Chinese black teas. The blend originates from 18th century camel caravans who would travel for almost a year to transport tea over the Chinese border, through Mongolia and into Russia. Russian Caravan has an excellent roundness from sweet and malty Chinese black teas. Enveloping undertones of smokiness from a premium grade Lapsang Souchong is the signature of this tea and can be enjoyed black using multiple, quick infusion or may be infused strong and wedded to milk and sugar. Delightful after a big brekky or perfect for lunch, this tea pairs beautifully with savories and ideal with cheese. A high water temperature is necessary to bring out crisp clean flavour of about 90 degrees celsius.
